Required Documents for Australia Awards Scholarships

Interested candidates must attach all the documents along with the Application form. Required documents include:

  • resume/C.V
  • Recommendation letter
  • Passport Copy (identifies your state or residency in your country)
  • English proficiency certificate that can be IELTS or TOEFL

___ IELTS certificate: which is not less             than a 2-year-old stating minimum             achievement of band 6.5

___ Achievement record: minimum 580         in TOEFL

___ Achievement record: Not less than           92 in the TOEFL online exam

  • All educational certifications from the front and back are attested by an authorized attestation person.
  • Fill country-specific requirement paper sheet and attach its original copy. You should get this sheet by sending an email to the Australian Awards website.
  • Employment certificate (if you are working)
  • If you want to be admitted to an Australian university with a research-based degree, then you need to supply an evidence letter of acceptance from a professor who teaches at any university in Australia. But if you are planning to study a course-based program under the Australian Awards then there is no need for an acceptance letter from the professor.

Eligibility Criteria for Australia Awards Scholarships

The basic eligibility criteria for Australian government Scholarships are given below:

  • Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age on 1 February of the year of commencing the scholarship.
  • As a citizen of a participating country that is listed on the Australia Awards website and is residing from their country of citizenship applying for the scholarship
  • Candidates must not be a citizen of Australia and do not hold permanent residency in Australia or be applying for a visa to live in Australia permanently
  • Applicants must not be married to, engaged to, or a de facto of a person who holds, or is eligible to hold, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency, at any time during the application, selection, or mobilization phases (note: residents of Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau with New Zealand citizenship are eligible but must apply for a Student visa [subclass 500]).
  • Candidates must not be currently serving military personnel.
  • Applicants must not have previously received a long-term Award in Australia unless they have resided outside of Australia for twice the length of the total time that they were in Australia.  For example, A previous awardee who has been in Australia on an Australia Awards Scholarship for four years will not be able to apply for another Australia Awards Scholarship until they have resided outside Australia for eight years.
  • Applicants must have been satisfied with any specific criteria that are established by the Area of a Program or by the government of the applicant’s country of citizenship.
  • Applicants must be able to satisfy the admission requirements of the institution at which the award is to be undertaken. This means that Program Areas will need to withdraw an award offer if the recipient cannot satisfy the institution’s admission requirements. This may not be known until a request for Program Areas is placed at selected institutions.
  • Applicants must be able to satisfy all requirements of the Department of Home Affairs to hold a Student Visa. This means that the Program Area will need to withdraw an award offer if the recipient cannot satisfy the visa requirements;
  • Candidates can not apply for a scholarship for a course of study at an academic level lesser than they have already achieved (eg applying for a Master’s scholarship when they already hold a Ph.D.)
  • Applicants must inform the Program Area of any relationship or connection to staff employed at Program Areas (including locally engaged staff at the post) or with managing contractors so that the application may be properly and transparently managed.
