How to Apply to Study in Canada

Hi guys, we are here to provide you with a complete guide about study in Canada. Applications vary by institution, but generally, you will need to prove your language skills, provide your transcripts from previous education, and also prove financial stability and medical coverage. Making sure you meet all the requirements for the education institute, you want to apply for is an important step in avoiding trouble in the future.

When you have to apply to most universities, you will need to choose your major. If you are not sure what to do, don’t worry. Canadian universities are generally more flexible with later major changes.

Designated Learning Institutes

If you want to apply for a study permit, you need a letter of acceptance from a designated educational institution. A designated educational institution is a school approved by the provincial or regional government to host international students.  All primary and secondary school educational institutions in Canada are designated. They are not on this list.

List of designated learning institutions by province

Step 1: Choose the province or territory your school is in.

Step 2: Type in keywords such as the name of the school, city, etc.

Step 3: Find the Designated Educational Institution (DLI) number and write it on your Study Permit application under the Required Study Details section in Canada.

Only a few DLIs can reopen for international students who are currently outside of Canada. Before traveling to Canada, make sure your DLI is on the list of people who have approved plans to manufacture COVID-19. If your DLI is not on this list, you will not be able to enter Canada.

Language Requirements

Because Canada is a bilingual country, courses at Canadian universities will be offered in English or French language.

Even if you speak native English or French, you will need to take a language test. If you want to apply to an English-speaking university, IELTS is accepted by all. For the French, TEF is the most widely used and accepted.

Fees are generally around $100.

Comparison to UK Qualifications

As mentioned earlier, the cost of tuition in Canada is very low. The cost of living is also a bit low. Although cost is a very important factor in determining which university to study for most people, it depends on you. Many universities in the United Kingdom and Canada are internationally respected. Find the one that is right for your situation.

Although the UK still has more universities in the QS World University Rankings 2021, Canada is rapidly overtaking the UK as the most sought-after country for international students to study.
