University of Twente Scholarship 2027 in Netherlands

Good news for students looking for a scholarship in the Netherlands. Applications are open for the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) 2027. The UTS is a merit-based scholarship for talented non-EU/EEA students starting an eligible Master’s programme at the University of Twente in September 2027.

The scholarship is worth between €3,000 and €22,000 per year and helps cover tuition and living costs. The University of Twente is a leading Dutch technical university in Enschede. Before applying for the scholarship, you must first be admitted to a Master’s programme. Read the full details below.

Duration

Most UT Master’s programmes last 1 or 2 years. For a two-year programme, you can receive a second UTS of the same amount for your second year if you meet the academic conditions in your first year (see below).

Scholarships Available

1) University of Twente Scholarship (UTS)

A merit-based award of €3,000 to €22,000 for one year, based on your academic record. It is not a full scholarship, so you may need extra funds for remaining costs.

2) Kipaji Scholarship

The Kipaji Scholarship gives extra support to talented UTS recipients from selected emerging economies. You must first hold a UTS and meet the additional Kipaji requirements to be considered.

Second-Year Conditions

To keep the scholarship in your second year, at the end of the third quartile of year one you must have:

An average grade of at least 7 (out of 10), and
At least 50% of your European Credits (EC).

Eligibility Criteria

You must be from a non-EU/EEA country. Dutch, EU/EEA and current UT students are not eligible.
You must be (provisionally) admitted to a qualifying UT Master’s programme starting September 2027.
You should be in the top 5–10% of your graduating class.
English: Academic IELTS 6.5 (speaking 6.0) or TOEFL iBT 90 (speaking 20).
You must meet the Dutch entry visa requirements.

Deadline

The UTS 2027 application form opens on 15 October 2026 and closes on 1 April 2027 (16:00 CET). Results are announced in the first week of May 2027.

Because admission decisions can take up to 8 weeks, apply for your Master’s programme well before the scholarship deadline (ideally by early February 2027).

How to Apply

Apply online for an eligible Master’s programme at the University of Twente.
Wait for your (conditional) admission letter and student number.
Complete the UTS online application form using your student number before 1 April 2027.
